Certifications

A Powerful Commitment to Quality

ONEIL’s Quality Management System (QMS) has been certified ISO 9001 compliant since 2003, which is mutually beneficial. Certification involves all phases of work in the company, from writing proposals to delivery of the final product. Two of the main issues certified ISO 9001-compliant companies must adhere to are customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. If a company is lax in these areas, its certification could be put in jeopardy.

ONEIL has a corporate commitment to quality, which is evidenced by the fact that we:

• Have been doing formal customer satisfaction surveys on completed jobs since 1994.
• Have used Six Sigma quality measurement techniques since 1997.
• Have had our QMS certified ISO 9001-compliant since 2003 (currently ISO 9001:2015).

Our QMS spans the information we produce and the technology used to deliver our products. Specifically, ONEIL’s ISO QMS Quality Manual and Quality Assurance (QA) Plan define our system for documenting quality checks and the disposition process.

Building on our standard approach, we define a solid QA process for each customer and perform multiple in-process quality checks of the material produced:

1. The first check (100 percent) is made by the lead writer for technical accuracy.
2. The second check (100 percent) is made by our QA group. They perform a thorough edit, including checks for format, style, readability, and grammar.
3. A third check is a random sampling by our QA group. Defects found in this QA sampling are documented and stored in a database. Trending reports are issued as requested by the customer.

Accountability to the strictest and most comprehensive international security standard

ONEIL’s Information Security Management System (ISMS) achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification in early 2018. This certification demonstrates that our data security practices and policies are comprehensive, repeatable, and institutionalized. We stay sharp by reviewing and evaluating our system constantly, and having it assessed twice annually by two different third parties ensures we’re not grading our own papers.

What it means to be ISO 27001 certified

ISO 27001 is built on two major cornerstones:

Maintain a Culture, Program, and Policy Dedicated to Protecting Data

ISO ensures security isn’t just an IT problem–it requires top-down executive leadership commitment all the way down to the newest associate. We created an Information Security Management Committee (ISMC) that is a cross-section of the entire company to ensure security is a commitment we all share. The ISMC is charged with all aspects of the ISMS including continuous improvement.

Hard Security Controls

Once the system is in place, policies alone aren’t enough to ensure proper security so ISO 27001 lays out more than 100 hard system controls that must be verifiably enforced. ISO 27001 covers every angle from the human element, computing assets, networks, physical security, risk assessments, managing third parties, vulnerability/malware management, software development, incident management, business continuity, compliance, and much more all the way down to cryptography.
