Illustration Tools

Whether from moving from platform to platform, person to person, or just from the passing of time, legacy illustrations are sometimes problematic. O'Neil has the tools and experience to handle almost any form of illustration file.

• IsoDraw – O'Neil has the Premium Service Agreement with ITEDO which keeps us constantly concurrent with changes and upgrades. IsoDraw's CGM output is exactly the standard, due to their close relationship with CGM Open, who sets and maintains the standard. IsoDraw is designed specifically for the technical illustrator and has become an industry standard.
• Auto-trol – O'Neil has used Auto-trol for over a decade. Auto-trol is a time-tested and proven tool for technical illustration work.
• Adobe Illustrator – O'Neil has used Adobe Illustrator since version 3.2. We have created a wide range of quick-action macros that streamline technical illustration processes. Illustrator has proven to be a useful tool for photo tracing, color rendering, orthographic and isometric illustration, and recently SVG illustration.
• Adobe PhotoShop – O'Neil has also used Adobe PhotoShop for over a decade. It has proven useful in preparing digital photographs and raster (usually this means scanned) images for operator's, repair, service, and even parts manuals.

• Mondello (software formerly known as InterCAP) 8.00 P12 – O'Neil has an agreement with Corel to use Mondello for several years to come.

As new packages become available, we are quick to examine their use and application. We are constantly evaluating new software packages, both for use internally and for delivery/presentation of illustrations.

O'Neil has created several graphics databases for our clients. For one international lift truck manufacturer, we developed a graphics database that allows tracking to reduce redundant effort and multipurpose use of illustration (on the fly as publications are automatically developed into 7 different languages). Certain emerging technologies are promising to allow a base file to automatically update extracted data used in detail illustrations. Should that technology prove to be as good as advertised, we will begin utilizing it for our customers.
