Writers working on commercial projects typically develop manuals for hardware and software applications, such as operation, service, maintenance, teardown, repair, diagnostics, and troubleshooting. They also develop computer-based training for service and dealer training.
Applicants require a strong technical background and should have experience in the areas of automotive, appliances, heavy equipment, material handling, advanced mechanical, and/or hydraulics. We also employ writers who have skills with electronic systems and computers.
Authoring software used includes Adept Editor/Publisher, Arbor Text, MS Office Suite, Interleaf, Omni Page, FrameMaker, PageMaker, and Visio.
