S1000D – DMRL

A Data Module Requirements List (DMRL) is the tool that helps with S1000D data module coding strategy, acquisition, and data module production. It lists all the data modules that are to be produced and delivered using all the management information stored within the data module and used by the CSDB.

Data Module Coding Strategy
To ensure that the data modules "fit together" in a cohesive manner, it is imperative that a robust data module coding strategy be established to reflect the requirements of the project.

Acquisition
At project start time, all the technical information required to support "The Product" in accordance with the maintenance and operation philosophies are identified and listed on the DMRL. This gives both the customer and the supplier an idea of what information is to be produced and, roughly, how many data modules.

Data Module Production
As the project progresses, the DMRL is a "live document" and is amended to reflect changes in data module requirements in support of "The Product." It can also be used as a measure of progress throughout the project.
