A couple of common questions are typically asked when we meet people for the first time at a social gathering: "So, what do you do for a living?" Or "Where do you work?" The answer can be straight-forward, or in my case, tough to describe in a sentence or two:

I usually answer "At ONEIL we create product support manuals, service manuals... You know, technical manuals. And parts catalogs. We're all about technical authoring, technical writing, we write technical publications. And e-learning too. And diagnostic software for vehicle maintenance. Are you aware of what an IETM is? Or S1000D?"

At this point my explanation has the listener confused and bleary-eyed.

What do we "do" at ONEIL? We at ONEIL help our clients keep their customers happy by ensuring that the purchased end-product is easy to use and easy to maintain.
