Aircraft engine inspection.Diagnostics and Troubleshooting

When we create maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting manuals, we use engineering data to analyze what can go wrong. We write about how to diagnose and fix the problem, then verify that the diagnosis was correct and the problem is indeed corrected. Through years of writing about aircraft, flight line ground support, and peripheral equipment, we have learned a lot. Diagnostics and test equipment are used in our labs every day.

Background

ONEIL’s analytical personnel come from maintenance, statistical, and military backgrounds, with the skills required to perform a thorough diagnostic analysis of one item or an entire system. Our people attend preliminary design meetings, analyze engineering designs and schematics, vendor data, and talk to your engineering personnel in order to get complete information. Once all the information is gathered, they perform a thorough analysis and develop their documentation.

Capabilities

Our capabilities allow us to integrate diagnostic procedures, information, tools, and metrics in ways that will power your product support to new levels. We have an experienced staff that can create the diagnostics procedures and logic for your support documentation. By linking our intelligent XML-powered diagnostic systems with your IETM or web environment publication, we can open your product support function to an unsurpassed level of productivity. For example, our comprehensive diagnostic tool can lessen the training burden because of our expert knowledge model, which reduces fault isolation ambiguity and delivers the right information at the right time.

Testing components sent in for repair. We have proven capabilities with J1708, J1939, MIL-STD-1553 data bus interfaces, as well as integration with BIT/BITE (Built-in Test/Built-In Test Equipment) and industry standard data loggers. In addition to simply interpreting databus status, our Autonomous Diagnostic Manager module can intrusively interact with electronic control modules (ECMs). This allows you to enable or disable functions for diagnostic evaluation or to manage an ever-growing number of software-enabled options.

Expertise

We take our knowledge and put it into your manuals. An IETM (Interactive Electronic Technical Manual) includes troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures for each component or system that can break down. There also may be a troubleshooting guide, that walks the technician through a diagnostic or repair procedure step by step. If the procedure is intrusive, the software we deliver within the IETM will be able to diagnose the problem with a simple interface connection. If it is nonintrusive, we will show you the equipment you need, how to connect it, and how to diagnose and repair the problem.

We make diagnostics and troubleshooting easy by providing you with a complete maintenance and repair solution.
